The House of Smiles

We all crave a little warm sunshine here in WNY and that is just what we felt while working on a series of projects for the owners of Villa Sorriso — a luxury, ocean-front, vacation-rental property located in the US Virgin Islands.

After meeting with the owner, we determined the property needed an updated logo, a user-friendly website, calling card and a fun notepad for the guests. Stylistically, these pieces should reflect the island life while maintaining a minimal, high-end visual aesthetic.

THE LOGO

From the start, we absolutely fell in love with the custom tile work found at the entrance of the Villa. Crafted by a local artisan, we felt this design would easily translate into a strong logo for the property.

Aesthetically, it is clean, fluid and playful– reflective of a luxury vacation destination yet bold enough to stand out when layered over photos which was a crucial part of the vision for the website design.

THE NOTEPAD

Inspired by the decorative details throughout villa, we chose a hand-painted floral graphic as the feature for the custom notepad, turning a standard piece of marketing collateral into a charming, artful piece that would coincide with the decor around the villa.

The colors of the logo featured prominently at the top of the notepad and the text at the bottom were pulled directly from the ceramic piece shown above.

THE CALLING CARD

An image of the pool with the beautiful, island landscape in the background was the feature of the Villa’s calling card. A semi-transparent logo and the website URL add function to this simple, yet effective promotional piece.

The reverse of the card features an aerial shot of the mountain alongside clean typography that coincides with the type styles on the Villa’s website. A convenient QR code directing guests to the VRBO listing was also layered on top of the image.

THE WEBSITE

Along with being easy-to-maintain, the Villa’s website needed user-friendly functionality while prominently highlighting the provided professional photography and videos of the property. The detailed content included guest testimonials, property specs and amenities in addition to highlights of the surrounding area.

The details of the design, including the typography were selected to compliment the existing logo for the property and the color palette was pulled directly from photos of the Villa and surrounding landscape.

All-in-all, this project was a dream… it’s not often we find ourselves lost in vacation-land while working up a series of collateral mockups!
